Melinda Sweeney

Principal / Director

Melinda started performing at 4 years old and received extensive training in the following specific styles of dance Classical, Jazz Ballet, Tap, American Funk and Hip Hop. Melinda was a professional dancer and choreographer during the entertainment boom of the 80's, working in all facets of the industry.

Melinda studied extensively in Australia and overseas performing with many international entertainers. Working alongside numerous artists such as Kelley Abbey, Jacquie Howard and Matt Lee.

After a successful career Melinda's goals were with developing children who shared the same dreams and passion for performing and entertaining a live audience.

In February 1988 the Just Jazz Talent Company was formed to pass on this knowledge to children, developing their skills and offering opportunities for performance in all levels and styles.

In July 2005, Melinda achieved a major milestone.The Just Jazz Talent Company further diversified and expanded into a new purpose built facility, offering students better programmes and incorporating tuition in the music industry. Studio 24 was born and added another exciting step in the journey.

As the Director of Studio 24 Melinda's main goal is to provide expert Tuition in all Genres of dance,carefully hand picking the best teachers Australia has to offer.

Melinda still enjoys teaching classes, especially the younger dancers as they need a good foundation to start their journey into the world of dance. Choreographing winning dance routines for the TDW is also her passion.

Jessica Sweeney

Jessica holds a Certificate IV in Performing Arts from Brent Street Studios in Sydney. Whilst completing full-time dance studies, Jessica worked with countless industry professionals and took classes and workshops with internationally recognised artists.

Jessica has been dancing and performing since she was 4 years old. In that time, she has been involved in many productions including Goosebumps, developed for the Channel 7 Kids Carnival, The Adams Family Stage Show, produced by Studio 24 Music and Back to The Future, which was performed at the Don Russel Performing Arts Centre and major Shopping Centre venues.

In 2003, Jessica attended the LA Dance Force workshop and was awarded a Scholarship. She also participates in the Brent Street Summer School in Sydney every January where she recieves extensive training in all areas of performing arts.

Jessica recieved the lead role of Dorothy in Willetton Senior High Schools production of The Wizard of Oz in 2005 and was the character Bobby in The New MacDonalds Farm Stage Show which was presented at the Turning on of the Christmas Lights Forrest Place, Perth in 2006.

In 2008, Jessica performed and choreographed with Studio 24 Professional Corporate Shows and was a company member of Steps Youth Dance Company for their June season 'nospace'.

Jessica performed in the Perth Production of the National Candyman Tour at the Regal Theatre. She has also represented EduDance as a teacher in many primary schools across the metro area.

Jessica performed as one of the Perth Glory Cheerleaders in the 2013/2014 season.

Jessica completed her Certificate III an IV in Fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness and is a fully qualified personal fitness trainer.

Jessica teaches Hip Hop, Jazz/Funk and Acrobatics and will be leading many of the Talent Development Workshop classes with her award winning choreography.

David Mueller

David Mueller is a graduate of the Bachelor of Arts (Dance) course at The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) where he worked in a number of productions. He has also performed in the 'Revenge Is Sweeter' Tour (The Veronicas Concert) at Challenge Stadium in February 2009, 'The Countdown Spectacular' at Burswood Dome in 2007, 'The Oz Concert' and attended Options Tertiary Dance Festival in Adelaide, Brent Street Summer School in Sydney and Youth Dance Advance in NSW.

In 2001, David won the West Australian Young Performer of the Year Award (Dance) and was awarded the Critics Choice 'Dancer to Watch (Perth)' in 2004 and 'Dancer to Watch (Canberra)' in 2008 by Dance Australia Magazine.

From 2006-2008, David performed in the production of 'Honour Bound', directed by Nigel Jamieson and choreographed by Garry Stewart (ADT). Honour Bound toured to The Sydney Opera House, Malthouse Theatre (Melbourne), The Vienna Festival, Holland Festival, The Barbican Theatre (London) as part of the bite 07 season and The New Zealand International Arts Festival 2008 in Wellington and won a number of Awards.

In September 2008, David was invited to be involved in Cadi McCarthy's contemporary dance theatre work, 'Grappling for the Edge', which was created at Chez Bushwick in New York and performed at Canberra Theatre Centre. He is also a member of contemporary dance company, Visible Dance.

In January 2009, David joined Buzz Dance Theatre for their Korean tour of 'Cinderella Dressed in Yella', which was featured in the ASSITEJ Children's Winter Festival. He spent April in Canberra with Cadi McCarthy and Company performing her latest work, 'Restless', at Canberra Theatre Centre. David also choreographed for Hampton SHS in 'Kinetic Kaos' and Winthrop Baptist College in 'South of the Swan.' Both performed at the Octagon Theatre in June.

During 2009, David choreographed performances for John Curtin College of the Arts, Willetton SHS and Presbyterian Ladies College and was awarded 'Runner-Up' in the SYTYCD Westfield Dance Competition.

In 2010, David performed with Buzz Dance Theatre in 'At The Beach' at King Street Arts Centre in Perth and 'Behind The Veneer' at The Playhouse and Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.

2011 saw David return to study at Edith Cowan University to complete a Diploma of Education (Secondary). After a year of specialist and relief teaching, David has secured a full time Performing Arts teaching position at Atwell College.

2017 is David's 20th year at Studio 24 and he will be teaching Lyrical, Contemporary and Slow Modern classes.

John Cleary

John Cleary has been teaching students the art of dance over 23 years. Specializing in Tap, Modern, Ballet, Contemporary, Irish, Singing and Musical Theatre. Johns students have been extremely successful in all competitions winning Thousands of placings, including state and National titles in both troupes and solos in all age categories and dance styles.
John studied at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts majoring in dance teaching and choreography. He is also a registered dance teacher in CSTD.
Johns successful dance career included winning 5 Tap state titles, 5 Modern state titles ,3 Song and dance state titles and 10 Irish dance state titles. John excelled as a performing artist in Australia with appearances in Variety shows, Television and Broadway Musicals which has seen him work alongside the likes of David Atkins and Dean Perry Stars of Hot Shoe Shuffle and Tap Dogs.
John has taken many students on their journey from beginners to professional performers. Many of his students have successful dance careers both in Australia and around the world. From cruise Liners, Film Clips, Disneyland performances, International back up dancers for the Aria and MTV awards to lead roles in Sound of Music, Les Miserable, Annie, Hair, Anything Goes and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to name a few. He also had many students accepted into prestigious dance courses including The Australian ballet School, The NZ Ballet School, European dance schools and Jason Colemans Ministry of dance.
John is excited about heading Studio 24's Tap Department

Jo McKenna

Jo is a founding member of Just Jazz, joining when we started in 1988. Jo has been teaching dance for over 15 years .

Jo trained in Commercial Jazz ,Tap,Acrobatics, Hip Hop and Lyrical. Jo was a competitive dancer and has won numerous dance competitions competing in Solo's and Troupes.
Jo spent many years performing around the world in dance productions before returning to Perth to rejoin Studio 24.

Jo has travelled to USA and has participated workshops at The Edge and also with Disney Performing Arts.

Jo specialises in teaching Commercial Jazz and Hip Hop and teaches at many primary schools for Edu Dance. Jo also teaches TDW troupes and her choreography has won first place in many dance competitions.

Jessica Woodhill

Jessica has been training at Studio 24 for 14 years in Jazz/Funk, Tap, Acrobatics, Ballet , Hip Hop and Lyrical.

Jessica has trained with several international artists including choreographer Ryan Sheppard

Jessica completed her Stage 3 WACE dance exams as well as completing a Diploma in Dance.

Jessica participates in workshops and classes and performs in many local productions. Now contracted to Nickelodeon and Showtime Entertainment Jessica performs regularly in their shows as well as corporate performances at The Crown Casino.

Jessica teaches Jazz , Hip Hop and Lyrical classes as well as being a teacher for our Talent Development Workshop. Jessica choreographed winning routines for many of our TDW dancers.

Jodie Kannar

"Jodie began dancing at the age of 10 on the Central Coast at Classique Dance. Here she trained in many styles including RAD Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical and Hip Hop. Her passion for dance and teaching excelled as she later worked at Classique as a teacher.

In 2011 she commenced her first year of full time dance training at Mango Dance in Sydney receiving a Certificate IV in Performing Arts (Dance). Here she trained with several different industry professionals in many styles of dance. In 2012 Jodie moved to Brisbane to undertake her second year of full time training at the Australian Dance Performance Institute here she completed the Diploma of Arts (Classical and Contemporary Dance) course, she trained with many leading classical ballet experts, Senior RAD examiner Barbara Eversen and QLD Ballet company guest teachers.

Jodie is currently studying with the Royal Academy of Dance on the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies course. She has recently completed her first year and will be entering her second and final year of this course in 2017.
She has been teaching the RAD syllabus for many years now, covering a variety of graded and vocational work.

Jodie’s professional experience includes International and National tours with The Jackson Experience Show , Norwegian Cruise Line contracts, NSW tour with Aluminus Angels Burlesque, Video clips, corporate events, weddings, podium and choreography, just to name a few.

Jodie is excited to be a part of the Studio 24 team to share her knowledge and passion for ballet. "

Monique Thornton

Monique has been training at Studio 24 for ten years in Commercial Jazz, Acrobatics, Lyrical, Ballet and Hip Hop. Monique has competed at local dance competitions in solos and troupe dances.

Monique was also part of the 2014 USA tour to Orlando Florida where she performed at Disney World, Universal Studios and NASA. Monique attended workshops at Disney Performing Arts.

Monique completed a Certificate II in Dance.

Monique has a special gift when it comes to our petite dancers they just love her. Monique teaches Ballet from 3 years upwards.

Chloe Weir

Chloe has been dancing since the age of 4 and is trained in jazz, hip hop, contemporary and ballet.

She has competed in numerous competitions with Studio 24 including troupes, solos and duos. Chloe also travelled to America in both 2011 and 2014, performing at Disney theme parks, Universal Studios and NASA.

As well as this Chloe has also been involved in other performances including Telethon and professional appearances at Crown Casino.

Chloe has been singing since she was 10 and has performed in various school musicals and local talent shows. She also sung the national anthem at both the State Basketball League and Women's National Basketball League across many seasons.

Jacquie La Roche

Jacquie began her dancing life at the age of 5 with Jazz, Tap and Ballet. At the age of 6, Jacquie was selected to perform at the Fremantle Theatre in the production "Cinderella" as one of the fairies.
Jacquie has been training at Studio 24 for six years in Commercial Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet and Hip Hop. Jacquie has been a member of TDW for 5 years and has competed at local dance competitions in solos and troupe dances.

Jacquie was part of both the 2014 USA tour to Orlando, Florida and the 2017 USA tour to Anaheim and Los Angeles, California where she performed at Disney World, Universal Studios, Hollywood Boulevard and Kennedy Space Station. Whilst in Orlando, Anaheim & Los Angeles, Jacquie attended workshops at the Disney Performing Arts, The Edge, Millenium Dance Complex and Abbey Lee Dance Company.

Jacquie is currently completing her Cert III in Assistant Dance Teaching and Cert IV in Dance Teaching & Management.
Jacquie will be teaching Ready Set Dance and Hip Hop, as well as assisting many of the other teachers throughout Studio 24.

Emma Gherardi

Emma has been training at Studio 24 for 8 years in Commercial Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop , Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Cheerleading and Acro.

Emma has competed in many competitions with Studio 24 including troupes, solos and duos as well as performing with the Cheerleading 'Tigerettes' at the State Basketball League for the past 6 years. Emma has also participated in numerous workshops with choreographers such as Ryan Sheppard 'Wicked' the musical and dancers from Cirque De Soleil 'The Immortal Tour'.

Emma travelled to America with Studio 24, performing at Disney theme parks, Universal Studios and NASA. Whilst she was in America Emma attended workshops at Broardway Dance Centre in New York.

Emma has a love for performing and entertaining young children. For the past 12 months Emma has been contracted to Showtime Attractions regularly performing in stage shows and also took part in a feature film.

Emma has completed her Certificate II in Dance.

Emma will be teaching Ready Set Dance and Ready Set Ballet as well as choreographing solos for the younger TDW dancers.

Keeley Kuther

Keeley has been part of the Studio 24 Family since she was 3 years old and has trained in all genres.

For the past 4 years Keeley has been a key assistant for several teachers at the studio particularly with the Ballet and Hip Hop programs.

Keeley has been apart of the TDW program for 8 years competing locally in troupes, solos and duos.

Keeley has travelled to the USA twice where she performed and attended workshops in LA, Orlando and New York.

Keeley also dances at corporate events and cheerleads for both the state and national basketball teams Willetton Tigers and West Coast Waves.

Keeley is currently doing her cert 11 in Dance.

We are very happy to have Keeley teaching Ready Set Ballet, Ready Set Dance, Hip Hop and TDW.

Abbey Jarvis

Abbey began her love affair with dance at the early age of 2. Studying the CSTD syllabus at the Connie Vidos School of Dance in Bunbury for 12 years. CSTD Examinations were a focal point where Abbey achieved high results in Theatrical, Classical, Modern Jazz and Tapping peaking with her Dorothy Gladstone Public Stage Examinations were she achieved both Honours and Honours Plus.

During these early years Abbey attended numerous workshops, festivals and classes with national and international prestigious choreographers. Always a team player Abbey successfully competing at local Eisteddfods and dance festivals in troupe routines as well as in solo and duo sections.

To further her training at the age of 12 Abbey travelled to Sydney to attend the Village On Broadway Summer School where she was taught by leading industry choreographers such as Wayne Aspinall, Jacquie Howard and Kelley Abbey. This lead to Abbey being offered a full-time position at the School.

In 2014 Abbey travelled to the USA where she enjoyed taking class at the Edge Performing Arts Centre in Los Angeles and the Broadway Dance Centre in New York.

With Abbey's passion for dance intensifying she made the brave move to Perth with her family to study at John Curtin College of the Arts majoring in Contemporary Dance. This is when Abbey chose to join Studio 24 and successfully auditioned for the TDW team in all available genres and was also an Assistant Teacher.

2016 sees Abbey again take a leap of faith leaving school to pursue her career in dance. Successfully auditioning in multiple full time programs where she chose to attend the prestigious Charlesworth Ballet Institute to study full time certificate 2,3 and 4 in Ballet Performance in the Vaganova method. This also incorporates Spanish, Contemporary and Character Dance.

Ongoing employment with Showtime Entertainment has seen Abbey enjoying performance opportunities in the industry she so loves.

Abbey is excited to be teaching tapping this year and is absolutely loving being part of Team 24.

Kade Sweeney

Kade has been training at Studio 24 since he was 5 years old in Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Classical, Contemporary and Lyrical.

Kade was accepted into WAAPA when he was 14 years old but due to his Sate Basketball commitments Kade was unable to accept the offer.

In 2015 Kade moved to Melbourne for two years where he completed a Certificate IV in Dance and Diploma in Musical Theater.

Kade has performed all over Australia working with Australia's top Australian choreographers and hopes to continue his career overseas but for now he will be teaching as much as he can at Studio 24.

Jordan Bright

Jordan has trained in Acrobatics for 10 years, Currently training Pre Professional 1 at Turning Pointe Performance Academy. He has been a teacher for 4 years and qualified in Module 1 and Module 2 Acrobatic Arts. Jordan has performed in various Shows and Productions throughout Perth and Australia.

Tiani Perkins

Tiani has been training at Studio 24 for 9 years in Acrobatics, Commercial Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Cheerleading and Contemporary.

Tiani has been a member of TDW for 5 years performing and competing with great success in Acrobatics.

Tiani has been training in 'American Style; cheerleading for 4 years and has recently travelled to Melbourne to compete in the Australian Worlds for Cheerleading with great success. Tiani's cheerleading training has made her a very important member of the 'Tigerettes' who perform regularly at the Sate Basketball League games.

Tiani has travelled to the USA with Studio 24 where she performed and attended workshops in LA and Orlando.

Tiani is an amazing Acrobat and will be teaching Acrobatics and Cheerleading.

Tyler Kelly

Tyler Kelly has been playing music for 15 years and has been teaching for 8 of those years. He started playing professionally at age 15 and has since worked as a session musician as well as playing in many local bands. Tyler started teaching at age 17 after being asked by his high school music teacher to teach private lessons. After high school Tyler went on to study an Advanced Diploma of Contemporary Music at WAAPA. He has been teaching drums and guitar at Studio 24 for 10 years and specialises in contemporary music.

Grace Tan

Grace started learning piano when she was 5 years old.
After completing all of the piano AMEB exams from preliminary to grade 8 Grace is currently completing her diploma in piano (AmusA).
Grace also plays the cello and guitar and does all this while completing her university studies.

Grace adores children and teaching them what she loves is even more amazing.
